AMERICAN INSTITUTE FOR ECONOMIC RESEARCH

Privacy Policy – October 24, 2025

This Privacy Policy applies to the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) and governs data collection and usage, including any information obtained by AIER pertaining to donors, web site users, and purchasers of the publications and services of AIER or of its subsidiaries, or those who inquire about their activities (“Supporter Information”). By providing this information to AIER, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy.

What information do we collect?

We collect personally identifiable information from you, such as your email address, name, mailing address, or telephone number, in a number of ways such as registering on our site, subscribing to newsletters, responding to surveys, filling out forms, attending events, donating to the organization, and others. You may, however, visit our site without having to supply Supporter Information.

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to users based on their visit to our website and other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network’s Privacy Policy.

Our website may include links to third-party websites and social media where you will be able to share personal data, post comments, reviews, or other information outside of our control. These links are made available to you as a convenience, and you agree to use these links at your own risk. These other third-party sites may use their own cookies, log your IP address, and otherwise collect data or solicit personal information. We encourage you to review the privacy statements of sites you choose to link to from our site so that you can understand how those sites collect, use, and share your information. We are not responsible for what third parties do in connection with their sites, how they handle your personal information, their privacy statements, or other content on sites outside of the AIER site.

What do we use your Supporter Information for?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  1. To personalize your experience – your information helps us better respond to your individual needs.
  2. To improve our website – we continually strive to enhance our offerings based on user feedback.
  3. To improve customer service – your information helps us more effectively respond to inquiries and support needs.
  4. To send periodic communications – the email address you provide may be used to send you updates related to your order or occasional news, updates, event invitations, and service information.
  5. To inform you more fully about our mission – and eventually ask you to join our many subscribers, attendees, and donors in supporting that mission.

Note: You may unsubscribe at any time using the instructions at the bottom of each email or by contacting [email protected].

How do we protect your Supporter Information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. All sensitive/credit card information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and encrypted in our payment gateway provider’s database, accessible only to those with special access rights. After a transaction, your private financial information (credit cards, social security numbers, etc.) is not stored on our servers.

We cannot guarantee the confidentiality or security of your Internet browser or any communication transmitted or accessible over the Internet. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.

Do we use cookies?

Yes. Cookies help us remember and process items in your shopping cart, save preferences for future visits, and improve overall website functionality.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable Supporter Information to outside parties, except as follows:

  1. To trusted service providers who assist us in website operations, business support, or donor management, provided those parties agree to keep all information confidential.
  2. To participate in exchanges with other like-minded nonprofits whereby names and addresses, but not donating history, are exchanged blindly through a third party bound by a confidentiality agreement. If you prefer not to be included in this process, please email [email protected], and we will ensure your exclusion.
  3. To conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on AIER.
  4. To protect and defend the rights or property of AIER.
  5. To act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the AIER site, or of the public.

Non-personally identifiable visitor data may be used for marketing, advertising, or other purposes.
