Foundations of Freedom: Classical Liberalism and the American Founding
May 28 @ 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Free

Join us in Charleston for an event with Ryan Yonk, Director of Education and Senior Research Fellow at AIER.
In 1776, the Declaration of Independence and the publication of Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations helped crystallize a powerful vision of liberty. This talk explores how the Founders drew on classical liberal ideas to build a system grounded in natural rights, limited government, and free markets. It highlights how these principles shaped the American republic—and why they still matter for debates about freedom, governance, and prosperity today. Drawing on his work in public choice and regulation, Dr. Yonk shows how these founding ideas help explain the need for strong institutional limits to keep government power in check and preserve liberty.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.
Registration is required.
While this event is free to attend, we invite you to consider making a $25 donation to support our programming.
